WDP Türkiye journey began in 2004 with a special seminar organized by Seçkin Köknar, hosting İsmet Himmet (You Li Han), the founder of WDP, as the invited lecturer. In 2006, Seçkin Köknar received authorization from Wudang in China and initiated the first Wudang Tai Ji Quan practices in Istanbul.

“Wudang Tai Ji Quan & Qi Gong” national seminar organized by Harun Mehmet Soydan in Ankara in 2010 with the support of Seçkin Köknar and esteemed Tai Ji Quan instructor Numan Pekgöz, was a turning point for WDP Türkiye. This seminar that İsmet Himmet attended as invited instructor was an opportunity for many members of the now WDP Türkiye family to meet the Wudang style for the first time, which over the years they began to learn and teach.

In the following years, Harun Mehmet Soydan, Esat Ataç and Gizem Kara attended intensive trainings at İsmet Himmet's WDP China school on the Wudang Mountains, improved themselves and received their basic level instructor certificates. Since 2011, thanks to the trainings and promotions organized, interest in WDP style in Türkiye has gradually increased and a large community has formed.

A milestone of these trainings was the invitation of Manos Kantidakis, Chief Instructor of WDP Greece, to Istanbul in 2019 by Harun Mehmet Soydan and Esat Ataç. The seminar “Fundamental Principles in WDP” contributed to further strengthening our organisation.

The momentum of the trainings in Türkiye accelerated when Ismet Himmet was invited to Türkiye by Adnan Erzen in 2022 to give another seminar. Since 2022, many new instructors and students have joined the WDP family through regularly held national and international seminars (Tai Ji Quan & Qi Gong, Bagua Zhang and Sword).

WDP TÜRKİYE instructors and students in various cities have continued their work with great commitment from that first meeting until today and they have continued their path as an expanding family, without deviating from the right direction.

In May 2024, Ismet Himmet organized an International Training Tour to the Wudang Mountains, which included participants from Türkiye. In May 2025, instructors and students from Türkiye again take part in the same educational trip. These training trips organized in Wudang also provide a unique learning and sharing opportunity between WDP instructors and students around the world. They provide the opportunity to experience the essence of Wudang internal martial arts at its source and develop a deeper understanding.

WDP Türkiye operates to make these profound practices and teachings accessible to EVERYONE, not just a select group of people, while turning each class into a laboratory for new discoveries..

Our aim is to learn and teach Wudang Kung Fu practices with their DEEP meaning, rather than just hollow and shallow forms.
